Nestled in the Eastern Caribbean between Guadeloupe and Martinique, Dominica is a small but extraordinary island - just 29 miles long and 16 miles wide - renowned for its dramatic landscapes. Towering mountains (reaching nearly 4,800 feet), lush rainforests, cascading waterfalls, and the famous Boiling Lake make it one of the most unspoiled destinations in the Caribbean.
A Diver's Paradise
Shop owner Jonathan Eddy recently spent five days exploring Dominica's underwater world - and came back impressed. While many Caribbean destinations have struggled with coral bleaching and declining marine life, Dominica remains vibrantly healthy.
Expect:
- Thriving reefs in excellent condition
- Massive barrel sponges large enough to hide in (though we don't recommend trying!)
- Abundant reef fish
- Unique underwater topography mirroring the island's rugged terrain above
Don't miss the famous Champaigne Reef, where streams of bubbles rise from volcanic vents, creating a one-of-a-kind diving experience.
Your Accomodations
We'll stay at the Fort Young Hotel, a distinctive and historic oceanfront property built on the grounds of a former colonial fort. Original stone walls and architectural elements have been preserved, blending modern comfort with rich island history.
