Nitrox
The Nitrox course teaches divers about using gas mixes with higher concentrations of oxygen (up to 40%) to increase bottom times, shorten surface intervals, and generally improve safety through the elimination of some of the Nitrogen in the gas we breathe as divers.

As divers, the amount of Nitrogen we on gas during a dive represents one of the most significant safety considerations in diving. The Nitrox course will teach you the benefits and hazards of using gas that has a richer Oxygen content and less Nitrogen. You’ll learn more about gas laws as they apply to divers, understand the pros and cons of diving a richer O2 mix, learn how richer 02 mixes impact the length of your surface intervals and bottom times, and learn about how this is balanced by an increased risk for Oxygen toxicity when diving higher percentages of Oxygen under pressure. You’ll also thoroughly review dive table planning and examine how dive tables are impacted by diving gas with less Nitrogen.
The class will focus on key safety measures to make sure you can make an informed decision about the best gas mix for your dive up to 40% Oxygen and will teach you how to analyze and clearly mark your teams tanks to avoid potential mistakes on your dive.
This class is academics only and does not require diving.
