Introduction to Tech: The NAUI Intro to Tech course is an ideal course for divers seeking to improve their diving and prepare for the exciting challenges of technical dives that could include overhead environments and decompression. This course will use small instructor to student ratios to ensure that the theoretical and practical aspects of a technical mindset are well covered. Theory will include gear configuration for technical work, a deeper look at decompression, advanced gas laws, and dive planning for more complicated dive operations. In water work will focus on trim, buoyancy and propulsion with an eye toward fine motor refinement and coaching to improve dive skills and confidence.
The course can also serve as an introduction to redundant dive systems and can be taught in either backmounted or side mounted configurations. Students are strongly recommended to commit to purchasing gear before their course, though rental options may be available. A conversation with Kreig Pinkham, WDC Technical Instructor and Director of Training is a mandatory prerequisite to signing up for the course and will help you make informed decisions about your advanced gear needs. This same conversation will allow us to help you develop your own dive learning plan.
Additional prerequisites for the class include Nitorx, Advanced Open Water, and proof of 25 logged dives with at least 10 using Nitrox.
Note that this course does not involve actual decompression diving, but is a mandatory prerequisite for NAUI classes that will involve decompression.
