The course consists of an academic session on Friday evening that will introduce DPVs, the basic types and their components, transportation, set-up and maintenance, and the techniques of diving with an underwater propulsion vehicle. On Saturday, students will complete two dives with a DPV, learning how to use the DPV for surface transport, how to appropriately ascend, descend, and make turns, and how to execute tandem riding. At the end of the dives, students will receive certification recognizing their successful completion of the Diver Propulsion Vehicle course.

Prerequisites: Basic scuba diver/open water scuba diver certification.

Equipment requirements: All basic scuba diver equipment is to be provided by the student including two tanks. Equipment rentals are available at half price at WDC. Students will use several types of dive propulsion vehicles provided as part of the course by WDC.
